PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT ADAPTATIONS

I have successfully used the prototypes pictured here for gigs and recording. I am currently building new versions using adapted conventional drum stands which will be somewhat smarter looking than the assemblages of skip contents and hardware store oddments you see here (though I quite like the re-cycled junk aspect!). This will enable the various set-ups to be used whilst seated on an ordinary chair or wheelchair - I have played sitting cross-legged on the floor for many years, but my old knees can't take it anymore... I have developed a playing style that works without a foot operated kick drum, incorporating some of the ideas of linear drumming. The disadvantages of not being able to play simultaneous beats on kick, snare and hi-hat are outweighed by the fact that playing the kick and snare by hand allows some otherwise impossible and spectacular patterns to be performed.
